Weyerhaeuser Distribution has expanded its offering of Homasote® 440 SoundBarrier® panels to its distribution centers in Denver, Colo.,  Dallas and Houston, Texas., and Tacoma, Wash. The company has had growing success with distributing the sound-deadening boards in recent years through its distribution centers in Fresno, Stockton, Fontana and Santa Clarita, Calif. locations along with Boise, Idaho.

“We’ve been experiencing strong results of distributing these products in high density housing markets throughout California and feel there’s a good fit for expanding that distribution into Texas, Washington and Colorado,” says David Helmers, vice president of Weyerhaeuser Distribution. “The capabilities of 440 SoundBarrier to control sound in floors, walls and ceilings can be a remarkable asset to any builder, but especially to those working in the multi-family housing market.”

Independently lab tested and time-proven in millions of square feet of residential and commercial structures, 440 SoundBarrier is a special-density, structural board made from 100 percent environmental Homasote® cellulose fiber containing 98 percent recycled product. The homogeneous composition is manufactured with uniformly distributed protection against termites, rot and fungi along with resistance to mold, mildew and moisture. The Made in America boards also insulate, with twice the R-value of wood.

“The FSC Certified® 440 SoundBarrier boards can easily be used in room partitions and peripheral walls, ceilings and floors to provide exceptional noise reduction in a structure,” says Christine Lemonick, director of sales and marketing for Homasote. “These lightweight boards are an excellent alternative to liquid gypsum on floors, and resilient channel or expensive gypsum sound boards on walls. They’re ready to apply directly to framing and come in a variety of convenient sizes. Builders continue to use our cost-savings products because they provide excellent noise attenuation and moisture-resistant thermal insulation at a value-added cost point.”

Founded in 1909, Homasote Company is the oldest manufacturer of building products made from recycled materials in the U.S. For more information visit www.homasote.com.
