This ain’t your grandma’s sawmill

Last month, we saw a picture of a Weyerhaeuser mill from 1938. Above is a recent picture from the SAME MILL that shows an operator in his control center. Quite a difference from the last post…

Our Weyerhaeuser associates are trained to operate our modern equipment safely and efficiently. In many cases, they monitor a large area of the mill while ensuring a consistent flow of logs and lumber. Cutting decisions are made by optimization computers, managed by our highly-skilled technicians. Weyerhaeuser’s maintenance personnel use advanced planning, monitoring and troubleshooting systems and techniques to keep equipment accurate and reliable.

I’ve often heard mill visitors express amazement at the technology, speed and precision of our lumber operations. At Weyerhaeuser, we are not standing still, frozen in time, content with ourselves and our products. We are constantly striving to be better. And the proof is in the pictures – because clearly, this ain’t your grandma’s sawmill!

Last month, we had some fun guessing the year the picture was taken. Can you guess the mill where both pictures were taken? For a little help, use the WYfinder to see a list of mill locations.
